Everybody, say hi to Kristina! She blogs with Daphne over at Gone Pecan, a blog I love, and I adore Kristina for keeping me from making horrible fashion mistakes and making me laugh on a routine basis. She’s basically fabulous. Take it away, Kristina!

Outside of reading I never really had a hobby (unless you count online shopping or watching Big Bang reruns) until recently.  Thanks to Ellice (Paper Riot) I heard about a quilting project–she had started to make a yo-yo quilt and I thought it was adorable!  I actually bought a quilting book last year thinking I could learn how to make a regular one for a gift and immediately shifted to the yo-yo idea.

Since I’m just starting out I have a small box to keep everything in. Obvs this might play into my small obsession with the mustache theme.

I’m VERY new to this and have only made a few dozen yo-yos so far but I do love it, since it is something I can do if I need a reading break or while I’m watching TV just to keep busy.

It is also fun to dig around in the scrap bins at the local craft store and see what colors/patterns I can get to practice. 🙂

By far my favorite fabric finds to date. Do you know how excited I was to find a babushka owl print?!

HOW CUTE are those fabrics?! I can’t wait to see the quilt when it’s all finished–it’s going to be so gorgeous!

Jen: What are you reading right now?

Kristina: Well, generally I’m reading 2-5 books at one time (I may have some attention keeping issues with books) so this changes ALL THE TIME.  Currently I’m still stuck in the mammoth book five of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series A Dance with Dragons (something I participated in a read along LAST year for), Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth, Alias Hook by Lisa Jensen, Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, and Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead.  I know, I’m nuts sometimes.  :P

J: If you could only recommend two books to everyone, what would they be?

K: EEP.  Just two?!  What about two authors?  (Even this hurts I NEED MORE!!)  I’m a huge fantasy fan and LOVE the world building in Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha series.  I AM OBSESSED.  These books are gorgeous both on the inside and out.  I’d also rec Rainbow Rowell. I own quite a few copies of all of her books.  ALL OF THEM.  I found Attachments (her first adult book) as a rec on Goodreads way before she blew up in the book world and absolutely adored it.  I remember immediately texting Daph and telling her to pick it up.  Don’t even get me started on all the moments in Eleanor and Park.  That boy is the best hand holder I’ve ever read about.  RAWR.

J: If there’s one other thing you could do with your free time that you can’t yet, what would it be?

K: Sleep?  HAHA.  Seriously though, sleep or more reading.  Right now I have a lot going on family wise so there isn’t much down time and I’m on the run a lot.  It would be nice to have a few “quiet” days and just hang out on the sofa napping and reading all day.  (I can dream can’t I?)

Hahaha, I knew that second question was going to make her squirm! Those recs are fabulous, though. And who doesn’t want more time to sleep, right??
