August is gone, and I’m waving summer goodbye through the back window of my proverbial station wagon. I’m so sorry to see summer go…as much as I love having my kids back in school and a little routine re-established, I will miss these lazy days! Thank goodness we have this one, last weekend to make the most of what’s left!

Goodbye, beach bags!

Goodbye, beach bags!

In the meantime, here’s what we did in August!

Books I Reviewed:

I had some really great reads this month! Between the release of Isla, which I knew I’d love, the gifts of a couple of books I’ve been looking forward to reading for a while, now, and some great library picks, I’ve been a pretty happy reader! I had a couple in there that didn’t hit the notes I was hoping for, but that’s OK.

Chatty, Fun Posts:

I came up with the idea for Free Time Fridays this month, and I am SO EXCITED to share these posts with you! The info is rolling in from the first few bloggers who are participating, and I am just beyond thrilled–this feature is going to be exactly what I’d hoped! Seeing pics of everyone’s hobbies is crazy fun, and I know you guys are going to love it! If you haven’t signed up yet, please do! I’d love to have you.

I made a list of Fabulous Beach Reads for those of you who just aren’t quite ready to let go of summer yet (I know I’m not!)

I vented about my crazy inability to read two books at a time. I still haven’t figured out how to do this–sometimes I list two books at once, but the truth is, I still only read one at a time, and just have the other one on my mental to-do list! Do you have a method? A system? What works for you?

This list makes me so happy! I worked hard on all of these posts, and sometimes reviews don’t get many comments, so it’s nice to see these are getting some air time! Hope you guys are enjoying them!

Blog Stats:

I always get a kick out of checking to see how people ended up here on the blog. Wanna see?

  • Love and Leftovers or The Shadow Prince online for free?! Download Still Blue? 🙁 No pirated books on Fefferbooks, guys. I have strong feelings about paying for copyright. But I bet your library has them!
  • There IS a free sneak-peek of Isla! And I have it right here. 🙂 There are lots of free, non-pirated sneak-peeks put out there by publishers, and I’m more than happy to share them when I have links!
  • Omgosh, Bleubird! Hooray! It’s one of my new favorite places to eat. That made me smile.

What happened off the blog?

My kids went back to school! There was school shopping (oh, man, my boys are almost teenagers, and they have OPINIONS) and purchasing of teensy tap shoes for my little girl, who’s taking dance again this year. The boys tried out for AAU basketball, which was the first time they’ve ever tried out for anything, and I was SO NERVOUS. Luckily, that happened a week before one of them broke his pinky clean through! We took the kids to see Guardians of the Galaxy and the groundbreaking for the new LDS temple here in our area. We went to the fair and had one last trip to the zoo before school started, and then I watched my boys walk across the street to the middle school for the first time, and realized that summer really is, basically, over! Up next: BOOT SEASON!

What about you? How was your month? What are your big plans for the fall?
